GLOBE RUNNER BECOMES HOME TO A MINI AMBULANCE

A bronze mini emergency vehicle has adorned the wall near the front entrance of our travellers’ hub Globe Runner, 4 Lypynskogo. The cute figurine is part of the famous quest project ‘Shukai!’ (Go Seek!), initiated by Yulia Bevzenko a couple of years ago.

Named Kyiv’s Ambassador by the Kyiv Tourism Award, since 2014 Yulia Bevzenko led over 1 000 in-depth tours of cultural landmarks in Ukraine’s capital. To pay tribute to its heritage, she decided to tell a story of the city through mini sculptures, created by local artists and scattered around Kyiv.

Yulia writes on her Facebook page: “The 25th mini-sculpture of the Shukai project is dedicated to Kyiv’s first ambulance station launched in 1881. Initially, the crew used horse-drawn carriages. After changing several addresses, the station finally moved to their own building in 22 Reitarska Street. The ambulance symbol changed several times until it finally transformed into a distinctive ‘blue snowflake’. Its six rays symbolize detection, notification, response, on-site assistance, assistance during transportation and transfer to a specialized assistance center”.

The inscription running over the figurine reads “We are grateful to medics!”

Globe Runner is happy and proud of supporting this project. Our travellers’ hub was one of the first properties to accommodate doctors and medical staff amid the coronavirus outbreak.
